MDMA Announces Addition of Medical Device Industry Veteran to Board of Directors
Washington, D.C., March 18, 2002 -- The Medical Device Manufacturers Association (MDMA) welcomed Nancy M. Briefs, Chief Executive Officer of Percardia, Inc., as the newest member of its Board of Directors during its January 2002 board meeting.
"We are very pleased to have Ms. Briefs join our Board and take part in the exciting work that MDMA is doing in 2002," said Paul Touhey, MDMA board chairman and senior vice president of Fujirebio Diagnostics (Malvern, Pa.). "Nancy brings a wealth of expertise in the industry, and she will be a valuable addition as MDMA rises to meet a variety of challenges this year."
Ms. Briefs is the Founding CEO of Percardia. The endeavor was formulated at Itasca Ventures in Minneapolis, and Percardia was founded in March of 1998 and established headquarters in New Hampshire. Since establishing the company, Ms. Briefs has raised over $32 million in equity financing to support device development and feasibility testing. Her experience of over 20 years in the medical device industry includes building shareholder value by raising venture and public financing and also developing and commercializing innovative paradigm shifting technologies at companies such as Vista Medical Technologies, Stryker Corp. and Target Therapeutics.
